Horseback Riding at Buena Vista Farms

Explore the partially excavated Maya site via horseback at Buena Vista. This private area is approximately 1000 acres of working ranch in a scenic and productive river valley located in the Cayo District. It is only a 15 minute drive from the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena or the border town of Benque Viejo.

Come enjoy our horse tails that provide magnificent views of the Mopan River Valley, and visit and archaeological site that has had extensive archaeological research. These research were initially conducted under the direction of Joseph Ball and Jennifer Tasheck; and more recently by Jason Yaeger, professor and chair of the Anthropology Department at the University of Texas in San Antonio.

We invite you to come and enjoy this wonderful experience with breathtaking views of the Belizean Outback while learning about our indigenous ancestors, who inhabited this site approximately 3000 years ago.

Tour Duration: 8:00am to 11am and or 1pm to 4pm
